Pianta erbacea perenne che forma cespi molto rigogliosi, e' alta fino a 40 cm con un bulbo sottile e ricoperto da tuniche intere membranose di colore bianco. Le foglie sono picciolate di colore verde, ovali e lanceolate con nervature convergenti, sono gia' presenti alla fioritura, larghe fino a 8 cm e alte fino a 25 cm.
